The Durham County Sheriff's Office serves the people of unincorporated Durham County, Research Triangle Park, and urban areas within the City of Durham. From our Patrol Unit to our Criminal Investigations Division, the Sheriff's Office operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the teamwork of approximately 500 sworn and civilian employees. The dedicated men and woman of the Sheriff's Office handle all typical law enforcement functions, run the Durham County Detention Facility, provide courthouse security, conduct search and recovery missions, respond to hazardous incidents, and serve criminal warrants and numerous civil documents mandated by State law.
