Deputy Vance Stewart started his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Durham Police Department, becoming a deputy with the Durham County Sheriff's Office in 2002. During his tenure at the Sheriff's office he has been assigned to Patrol, Narcotics, SCOPE, Honor Guard, and was a School Resource Officer. Deputy Stewart became a member of the Motor Unit in September 2015 when he completed the Durham Police Department's Basic Police Operator Course. He holds his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. Deputy Stewart serves on the Sheriff's Office Hostage Negotiations Response Team. He also holds current certifications as a Radar Operator, Bike Safe Assessor, SFST, and various other law enforcement certifications.
