Sgt. Keith Garner

Keith was born and raised in Johnston County, attending and graduating from Smithfield-Selma High School in 1989. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army as a Military Police officer. After serving 4 years he returned to NC to pursue his education at Johnston Community College and more recently completing his BA degree from Western Carolina University.

Since 1995 Keith has served in various roles including Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Supervisor over the Town of Clayton's Traffic Safety Unit, currently assigned as Clayton PD's training coordinator. He is a general instructor with a specialty certification in Firearms. Since 2015 he has helped teach teenage drivers the dangers of unsafe driving through the Street Safe program. He attended and passed Basic Motor School in August 2016 at the NC State Highway Patrol training academy.
